It was an unseasonably warm December evening in New York City. Imran originally wanted to capture the real authentic proposal in Central Park. However, Kauwel’s best friend advised him that for a surprise engagement shoot, it would have been too much of a surprise and she would be camera ready. No worries, he proposed privately at the Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, one of Kauwel’s favorite view of the New York City skyline and in her opinion, is the best there is! Kauwel said yes! The couple met 9 months prior at a mutual friends party in Manhattan. I love stories of fate! So the day after the proposal, I met the newly engaged couple in Central Park near The Plaza Hotel.

It was already after dark when we began but it was fun trying to find new areas to shoot in! After a bit of shooting, the couple made a wardrobe change. We flagged down a taxi and drove to Gantry Plaza State Park where he proposed to her. I have to admit, this Long Island City park is breathtaking! I loved the industrial vibe and took advantage with the wide shot in front of the metal structure. We walked down a few of the piers where there were wooden lounge chairs that I had them sit on and in a few, I stood on them to take in a different angle. I just loved everything about this Central Park engagement photo session! Congratulations to the newly engaged couple!
